Dedicated to meeting challenges for victims of intimate partner abuse, each month The Exodus Project Emergency Financial Assistance Program partners with national and local community domestic violence organizations to identify homeless victims and their children to provide critical emergency financial assistance to bridge the gap between bondage and freedom.
The Exodus Project Emergency Financial Assistance program serves victims and survivors of domestic violence in the US and Canada. The Exodus Project provides emergency, confidential financial grants.
The Exodus Project Emergency grants are made exclusively through local verified domestic violence agencies including shelters and Community Organizations that (must) provide in-person support services for victims and survivors of domestic/intimate partner abuse who have recently left an abusive relationship.
The local domestic violence agency is the primary point of contact and liaison between the individual and The Exodus Project. The Exodus Project does not provide victim support services provided by the local domestic violence agency including emergency hotline, legal aid, emergency housing, or case management services.
The focus and mission of The Exodus Project Emergency Financial Assistance program is to make emergency funds available to homeless victims and their children to assist with permanent housing, housing related expenses and, services that support a victim’s stability and long-term housing plan. At this time, for victim safety and security reasons, as well as for verification purposes, The Exodus Project Emergency Financial Assistance program does not accept anonymous, email or unverified grant requests from individuals, or provide grant funding to individuals who are not working with a local, verified domestic violence shelter or community organization serving victims of intimate partner abuse.
A victim’s housing status and long-term needs assessment must be verified by the local domestic violence organization, and the emergency funding request must be submitted by the local domestic violence organization on behalf of the victim, along with a permanent housing plan. Emergency financial assistance is available up to $5,000 for an individual, and up to $7,500 for an individual with minor children.
Nearly 50% of homeless women in the US are victims of domestic violence, and in a single day, as many as 31,000 individuals have fled an abusive relationship in a single day. The Exodus Project Emergency Financial Assistance program is made possible by donor support and each month we allocate 97% of donor contributions to the emergency financial assistance program. We receive over 3,000 requests for emergency assistance each month, emergency assistance is provided based on funds availability, on a first come first serve basis, and with priority given to victims and survivors with minor children.
The Exodus Project grant funding adheres to strict compliance standards. The Exodus Project cannot accept grant requests directly from individuals or unknown, anonymous sources.
Grant requests can only be submitted to The Exodus Project by a verified local Domestic Violence Agency/Community Organization (“Exodus Partner”) in the US/Canada that provides uninterrupted in-person support and services for victims of domestic abuse.

With as many as 31,000 victims of abuse fleeing domestic violence in a single day, and nearly 50% of homeless women and children in the US fleeing domestic abuse, we strongly urge victims who are fleeing domestic violence to contact a local DV Agency/Community Organization that provides uninterrupted in-person support and services for victims of domestic abuse as soon as possible.
Q: Can a friend or relative request grant proceeds on behalf of a victim?
A: No. Confidentiality, compliance restrictions and safety of the victim, The Exodus Project can only grant requests from a non-profit, legal entity, DV Agency/Community Organization, that provides uninterrupted in-person support services to victims and survivors of intimate partner abuse.
Q: Do grant proceeds have to be paid back?
A: No. Grant proceeds are not a loan, they are a gift and do no have to be repaid.
Q: What is the maximum grant amount?
A: The maximum grant amount for an individual is $5,000, and $7,500 for a parent with children.
Q: How long does it take to get grant proceeds?
A: Grant proceeds are requested by an approved local DV agency/Community Organization can be funded within 48 hours based on order received and availability of funds. The Exodus Project receives over 750 grant requests each week, grant proceeds are provided on a first come first serve basis.
Q: What are the eligibility requirements for a grant?
A: Victim must be over 18 years old and a resident of US or Canada. Grant requests must be submitted by an approved local DV agency/Community Organization providing uninterrupted in-person services to victims of domestic abuse. A domestic violence hotline is not eligible to submit grant requests on behalf of a victim.

Q: Can an individual make grants?
